6 Super Cool Texas Airbnbs in the Countryside (and 6 More)

The Land Up Country Living Series

If you’re planning a trip to Texas, you’re going to need a place to stay. Sure, you could stay downtown in the big city. But we don’t know many Marriotts with longhorns, floors made of hammocks, or views of the Milky Way.

Vacation or staycation, Texas is a great place to be. But instead of just staying somewhere, why not truly experience all that Texas has to offer and then some? With this list you can pet farm animals, fish, hike, and sit in a hot tub at some of the most unique stays on Texas land.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from working in Central Texas land sales, it’s that nothing beats the countryside. Here are 6 super cool Texas airbnbs (and 6 more honorable mentions) where you can spread out for your next trip to the Lone Star State!

Let’s Explore 6 Texas Airbnb’s

Wimberley, Texas | Super Cute Retro Airstream

This retro airstream trailer is the perfect spot if you love camping, but, like, not that much. It has all the best parts about camping - fresh air, babbling creeks, scenic nature - with the comfort of a cozy bed and fully equipped kitchen. While we haven’t personally tried packing a hot tub for our camping trips, this Airbnb already includes a place to soak up and relax among many other amenities.

Escape to nature in Hays County, just 3 miles from downtown Wimberley with plenty of art galleries, music, food, and more. As the title says, it’s super cute - check out their booking page for more info.

Camping is way better with couches.

Alright campers, we have another one for ya’! The wild west isn’t just in the movies: it’s also in the very charming town of Fredericksburg. Inside each authentic Conestoga wagon you’ll find a few beds, AC, heat, and electricity. Guests also have access to property amenities including showers, pool, gym, volleyball court, fire ring, and more. Just like the pioneers did it.

You’ll love exploring all that Fredericksburg has to offer - and it’s a lot! Boutiques, wineries, outdoor adventures, museums, and the list goes on. Live like a pioneer, but better, by checking out their booking page.

As tempting as it may be, do NOT try to hook these up to your oxen and head west.

Okay, this one isn’t an Airbnb. It’s a Texas Vrbo property. Tomato, to-mah-to. What’s really important is that IT’S A TEXAS CASTLE, Y’ALL! 14,000 square feet, majestic sunsets, over 100 pieces of artwork, and rolling Texas Hill Country landscape across 133 acres in Burnet County. Calling aspiring kings and queens: this is your chance to feel like royalty. You know, without all the beheadings and stuff.

When you click on their listing, it asks at the very top “Have you ever wanted to stay in a castle?” Is that even a real question?! Obviously!! Grab your gauntlet and your fanciest robe and see more details on their booking page.

All it needs is a moat, drawbridge, and a bunch of alligators.

This bus made the drive down from Nashville and is parked for good just outside of Austin, Texas. Don’t worry about who will sit next to you on the bus: everyone is going to want to experience this truly unique Airbnb! Enjoy the retro design, convenient set-up, and plenty of spots to “park” yourself surrounded by nature.

Fish in the steam, watch the stars, and relax around the fire pit while we try to think of more bus jokes. Turning middle school nightmares into the coolest Airbnb dreams-come-true is such a great real estate strategy. Get those wheels going round and round for your Texas trip by visiting their booking page.

Now this is a field trip!

The floor is a hammock! At least, it is on the front porch. The hammock is hands-down awesome, but the rest of the house is just as jaw dropping. Fresh and airy modern design, lots of natural light, and a fully equipped home for your getaway. There are many spots to sit and enjoy nature, including the patio and an outdoor bathtub. That’s assuming we’re planning to leave the hammock, which we’re not.

Round Mountain is a charming Texas Hill Country town in Bastrop County. It’s about an hour northwest of Austin and even closer to popular Central Texas cities like Dripping Springs and Wimberley. Let’s hang: check out their booking page.

I put up a hammock between two walls in my house. It really ties the room together. ba dum tss 🥁

Sitting on 50+ acres in Caldwell County, a short drive from San Marcos, this modern farmhouse style Airbnb is the perfect spot to relax after a long day of floating the river and eating Lockhart BBQ. No creepy neighbors to bother you here - the only ones “accidentally” staring through your windows are the longhorns that roam the ranch. What’s more Texan than longhorns?!

Fun fact: this property was once one of our Skyline Ranch Homes for sale, which the buyer transformed into an income-producing Texas Airbnb. See this great example of how we can help you invest in Texas real estate by visiting their booking page.

Just like how you can’t take rocks home from national parks, you can’t take the baby longhorns.
